About Me:
Read up there. Here are some links to charities I support.
UK Based
Cancer Research UK
They research cancer. They're based in the UK. Not hard to figure out.

The National Trust for Scotland -- art preservation -- on the same idea as the English one, but far cooler because it hired me once.

PDSA -- providing vetinary care to animals whose owners otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it.

USA
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
I recomend this partly because reading Alex: The Life of a Child scarred me as a kid. I still can't cough without thinking of that book. Good cause, horrible disease.

The Fund for Animals
Again with the bunnies and the kitties. (What do you expect from a vegetarian?) I like animals.

Doctors Without Borders
Because, sadly, we need all the humanitarian aid organizations we can get.

Interests:
I'm an archaeology student currently living in Edinburgh. I love the UK, but I won't mind returning to the states in a few months. I like Yoga, but I really hurt myself doing it about a month ago and I haven't really done much since. (I'm not really sure how I managed to do it, stupid balance poses.) I have a thing about the Brontes. I love art. I work as a tour guide. I write. I keep buying Vogue at news stands even though I shouldn't waste the money. I miss television. I love Scotland. I love England. One can love both. I was going to write this ages ago but I've only got the time now. I have "Miss Jackson" stuck in my head right now., "You can plan a pretty picnic, But you can't predict the weather, Ms. Jackson", Where was I? Oh. Yeah.
Favorite Music:
Talking Heads, Kurt Weill, OutKast, Laura Nyro -- "Eli and the Thirteenth Confession" is my favorite album ever, The Beatles, Dead Kennedys, Sex Pistols, Joy Division, Os Mutantes, Serge Gainsbourg, Pink Martini, Patsy Cline, The Smiths, Lauryn Hill, Jasmine Gamelan, Peking Opera, Siouxie and the Banshees, Blondie, Television, The Cure (I seem to be stuck in the Eighties. On Mars.), Todd Rungren, David Bowie, Liam Something's Fake Songs, Weird Al, New Order, Stevie Wonder, Chopin annnnd Carole King.
Favorite Movies:
I like Jonathan Demme and David Cronenberg. Psycho is my favorite Alfred Hitchcock. Katherine Hepburn -- Pat and Mike is her best. Buster Keaton is funny and hot in a silent movie way. Do the Right Thing is the best movie about America ever. Kill Bill II is wonderful. Jane Fonda is suprisingly talented. I wish I didn't have a crush on Donald Sutherland, that said his Hawkeye is yummy. Rushmore and the Royal Tannenbaums were great. Loved the Incrediables. The Exorcist is boring. Ditto Mattawan. Broadcast News is cool, and I loved how the romances didn't work out. (Annie Hall and Miss Firecracker are also good bittersweetish romances.) I have a soft spot for Desperately Seeking Susan, even though it is all levels of dumb. Love, Actually was so bad I kind of took it personally -- except for the bits with the porn stars and Bill Nighy. Alan Rickman is hot in every role except Snape. Brad Pitt is not sexy. Christian Bale is. Jude Law is not. Michael Caine of the Alfie through Educating Rita era is.
Favorite TV Shows:
Buffy, Angel, Moonlighting (What?), Arrested Development, old movies on cable, Nova, BBC1 (it's just so... British), Doctor Who, many of the Star Treks, true crimes on Court TV, Nip/Tuck... I... haven't watch tv in a while. I can't afford the license over here. That's about it now.
Favorite Books:
White Noise "there are parts of my body I no longer encourage women to handle freely", Anne of Green Gables (though now I've grown up I don't know how Marilla didn't just wham her one sometimes), Dear Enemy (it should be a classic. Sallie MacBride and her Scots Doctor "Enemy" are so much cooler than the Little sodding Princess it's not even funny), Jane Eyre (Bronte. Thing.), Juliet Barker's Brontes (see previous), Strangers in Paradise, Doonesbury, The Camelot Caper, The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, A Clockwork Orange, Our Mutual Friend, Hard Times, David Copperfield, Tales of the City, most books written by Terry Pratchett, I Fatty, Anne Perry's William Monk series before Monk realized he loved Hester and the author lost her edge, I have a silly affection for Catherine Cookson novels an' all, Farewell My Concubine, most stuff written by Bananna Yoshimoto -- although I haven't been able to get into Asleep, Sujata Massey's Rei Shimura series -- even though Rei can be annoyingly self righteous and I hate her boyfriend Hugh, Hunter Thompson -- anything, er.... This list isn't very English majory is it?
